Money instead of gifts?

My fiance and I have lived together the majority of our relationship. He has lived on his own basically since he graduated (2010) and I have since I was 19 (2016). We basically have everything we need in life except our own home. We don't need any home goods or anything. Would you find it tacky to tell people that in lieu of gifts we would rather have money for our honeymoon and or dream home?
