Second baby, longer labor.
Our first daughter came a day early and I was only in at the hospital and In active labor for 4 hours (3cm to born), maybe 8 hours total of contractions.
This time we were told that labor would be quicker, they were wrong 😓. 3 days late, due 1/4, came 1/7. At the hospital for 11 hours, 14 hours of contractions.
I went to bed 1/6 around 10pm and was woke up at midnight to contractions, not too strong but 7-10 min apart. Laid in bed for an hour as they got stronger and closer, got up and walked around so I wouldn’t wake my husband. I had been having contractions like these for the past 4 nights, so I didn’t know if it was actually labor. After 2 hours, they got stronger and even closer, so I woke my husband, he called my mom to come over for our daughter. We checked into triage at 3am and 3cm. They decided to admit me because I needed antibiotics and with how fast my first labor was. From the second I saw the doctor, they wanted to break my water, I said nope!
7:30am,
I was still at 3cm 😩 contractions varied from 2 -10 min apart, I was worried I was stalling. Tried the shower, bouncing on the ball, walking. Still said no to them breaking my water
11:30am - 4cm 😭🤦🏽♀️ but that’s when it kicked up a little. Tried the shower again, contractions were getting stronger, but not necessarily closer, still 2-6 min apart. When I got out of the shower, the contractions were serious. Nurse got out the beanbag, liked this the best for laboring besides the shower.
2:00pm the doctor checked me - 8cm!! Said baby was still a little high so she had meanie over a bean bag to get her to drop. Doctor went to grab a quick bite and then was going to come back up to check. She got a call while in line telling her to hurry back up!
2:15 my water broke naturally, and the nurse said that I was gunna have this baby without the doctor!
2:19 Ariana was born. Turns out she was posterior and turned as she came out!
My nurse was amazing and helped me through the whole day. Having that type of support was everything.
No epidural, and a 2nd degree tear and slight upper tear. Lidocaine didn’t work for the upper stitch 😭.
Got to go home after 24 hours and she’s doing amazing. Lifting her head, and turned over from front to back today!!
