6 week early scan, will it be a vaginal scan?

Read mixed comments, I don’t fancy a vaginal scan 😬

Yes probably, they may try abdominal first but you might be earlier than you think so seeing something could be difficult. They’re not that bad, way better than a pap. Just a little pressure here and there.

I’ve had several. Maybe if I tell you what I know, it will help? I think information is usually helpful to alleviate fear. I prefer trans vaginally because you don’t have to drink all that water and hold in your pee lol I find that so painful and annoying. Plus the image is much clearer trans vaginally if you are still early. Which means better data and higher chance of seeing the heartbeat! Yay! I have never had any pain with them, they always use warm lube and lots of it. You insert it yourself and then they just take hold of the end to control it. The handle is really long so they are no where near your parts when controlling it. Something that helped me was opting to wear a dress and tights, so then I didn’t have to change into those stupid see through hospital gowns.  I just took my tights off and was good to go. :) and having someone come with you also helps. The place I go has a tv screen on the wall so you can see what they are seeing and thats a pretty great distraction. Especially if it’s your baby! Hopefully that makes you feel more relaxed about it. Yes usually. The only scans I have had in early pregnancy have always been vaginal. It is NOT bad at all!!

I’ve only ever had transvaginal ones. My uterus is tilted so they can’t see anything with an abdominal. It’s just a little pressure. There’s no harm to baby.

I’ve had two and it didn’t hurt at all. My doctor said early on in the pregnancy, you get a better look at things when it’s transvaginal. Don’t worry too much about it. It honestly isn’t bad at all.

My uterus is inverted so I had to have an internal ultrasound. It doesn’t hurt but I did have bleeding afterwards and freaked out..everything is fine it’s apparently quite common. Just thought I’d let you know in case you have a bleed too. I’m 6w3d with twins 👯

Mine were both vaginal at 5w6d and 7w3d. They’re not that bad.

Yes, it will very likely be vaginal. I've had a ton of these because I get ovarian cysts and I did fertility treatments. The best thing you can do is relax. I've never really found them to be uncomfortable

I was 6 weeks 1 day and they did one, I asked them to put extra lube because it does hurt me.
