My Dagne Dover is a similar style and I can say first hand that it’s hard on your back.

No, but I don't see how it would be very comfortable for your shoulders and arms. I would guess you have a lot of textbooks, my backpack in highschool was always around 10kg, carrying all that in my hand or on a single shoulder is not ideal.
