Sleeping on your period help!!

So maybe this is really bad but my period has been super heavy the last two days and it’s been super hard to sleep comfortably without blood getting everywhere. So last night I put some toilet paper in between the lips of my vagina as well as an over night pad and it really helped make sure I didn’t leak. Is this bad could I can an infection from doing thing ??!!
