Cerclage questions... ?

I go this Tuesday to start my makena shots and check measurement of my cervix for possible cerclage. As far as I know they will only be measuring. Not sure if they will make a decision that day or wait and re-measure in the next few weeks. How long after you got cervix measured did they make an appointment to place cerclage? And what was your experience in getting it placed? Any information would be so helpful! A little nervous. TIA!!

Mine didn’t even waste time and placed in a cerclage based off a 21.5 week loss I had back in 2007...my cervix has lasted quite well with all pregnancies since

My doctor doesn’t do both a Makena & cerclage, just one or the other. They measured me to be sure the Makena was working & once they were confident it was that was it no more measurements.If my cervix was showing that Makena wasn’t working at that point they would have then placed a cerclage.

They measured mine and it was short but did not do a cerclage because there was no funnel or dilation.  Instead I was put on Progesterone suppositories so the medicine went directly to my cervix.  It’s been holding up great until my appointment Friday.  Since I’m 32 weeks it’s too late now for a cerclage.

My cervix was measured last week at my nt -long and closed, although that didn’t surprise me.  I had a 20 week loss where it was fine at my 18 week u/s.  We are considering a preventative cerclage, my other option is weekly or bi weekly scans of the cervix beginning at 15 weeks but my OB even said that isn’t a guarantee we’ll be able to catch anything before it’s too late.
