Anyone give birth at a birthing center?

I want thoughts and opinions please! This is our second and I have the option to give birth at a center about 5 minutes from our house. I’m a little nervous about this but like the at home setting and options at the birth center. On the other hand I feel like I’d be better off at the hospital in case any emergency would happen. 
I’d love to hear your stories!!

I personally wouldn’t I get it’s a more comfortable place but i ending up having an emergency c-section they had 5 minutes to get him out or I would have lost him. I know most places will transfer you if you have complications but with little amount of time I would have never made it to hospital.

I’m giving birth at a birth center! Talk to them about their transfer rates. My doula helped me reframe the “dangers” or labor this way - it is FAR more dangerous to drive a car than it is to give birth, and we don’t drive around with an EMT at the ready. Hospitals are great in case of an emergency, and the midwives can spot an emergency a mile away. Most emergency c-sections give off warning signs to doctors and nurses way before they happen, it just seems so sudden to the patient who was busy trying to give birth. 
As someone who wants to avoid a c-section if I can help it, it makes me so happy to know the c-section rate for birth center patients is far lower than at a hospital.

I had an amazing experience at a birth center. I felt so relaxed and empowered. Midwives are trained to look for warning signs and will surely transfer you if things are appearing to complicate themselves

You wind up at the hospital if an emergency were to happen, and the midwives etc usually are very professional and keep you informed and safe if that’s your main concern xx
