Are these cold sores?

My husband gets these on his mouth occasionally and he always says their pimples but I think they’re cold sores and would like to know so that we can make sure he doesn’t kiss me or the kids when he has them.

You don’t get pimples on your lips (can happen next to them but these are ON his lips). Those are obvious cold sores.
