Making progress
I’m not sure if you guys might’ve seen my topic yesterday but if so, I figured I’d post a small update about our son.
Koston, our 3 week old, had to be rushed to the emergency room at 4am yesterday and when we got there, his skin was grey in colour due to his oxygen saturation being all the way down to 82%. He was immediately hooked up to an EKG monitor that captured his resting heart rate at 320 bpm whereas it’s supposed to be around 120-140 bpm. He was quickly given a quick umbrella diagnosis of tachycardia and was moved up to the PICU, CV wing so that he could have a team of heart specialists monitoring him at all times. He’s currently on a concoction of medicines that are keeping his heart rate stabilized but we were told that he may or may not end up needing to be hooked up to a heart monitor and oxygen machine permanently. Right now he’s doing great though. He’s getting plenty of rest and was able to breastfeed yesterday as well despite the doctor not believing he’d have enough energy to do so.
When we initially had gotten to the ER with him, he wasn’t responsive at all until it came time for him to have two IVs administered. He was completely limp and the doctor said that the acid levels in his blood were preventing proper blood flow to his arms and legs but more importantly, his brain as well. With that going on, his body was close to giving up entirely because it was too much for him to handle being so small.
If you guys could though, please just keep my little cutie in your thoughts because we’re expecting at least a two week stay and that’s with everything going as planned. We just want our baby boy happy and healthy again so that we can bring him back home. Thank you! 💛💛
