1,500 ounces of breast milk useless?

Brittany

I’m an exclusive pumper for the most part. My son is 5 months old and I’ve been able to save 1,500 ounces of breastmilk for the deep freezer. My goal was to end pumping a couple of months early while he used up the freezer stash. He’s had fresh expressed milk these entire 5 months. A couple of weeks ago he was a little congested so I decided to thaw out some colostrum for more antibodies. Well when I did this, he wouldn’t drink it! He kept turning away, and seemed disgusted by it. This weekend, we decided to try another bag out, same thing happened again! I smelt my milk, it does have a different odor to it. I did some research and got familiar with how the fat content of it changes and how lipase forms changing the taste, but still healthy and beneficial. But the problem is he doesn’t like the flavor. Has this ever happened to anyone? I am so devastated and spent roughly 700 hours of hard work pumping and building this stash. Even if I donated it, I’m worried other babies won’t like the taste of it either. 😭😭. Please help!!!
