pill or nah?

Question

so I'm considering to take birth control pills but I'm unsure. could someone who uses them describe 1. how they work/how do you take them 2. what's the pros and cons 3. how does it affect you're cycle? (if that makes sense) 
anything regarding bc pills that's helpful will be also appreciated thanks x

I was on birth control for about 10 years, so I’ll let you know about my experience and try to answer your questions.  
1. Basically birth control (the pill) works because it is contains two hormones, one of which stops ovulation and the other increases the thickness of your cervical muscle, which decrease the risk of pregnancy. In order for them to be most effective, you need to take them at the same time every day. I set an alarm on my phone to take them at the same time. You just need to pick a time that you will consistently be awake with your pills nearby. 
2. Pros: it’s easy to use, it has some other added health benefits, you know when your period will occur. 
Cons: you need to take it like clockwork, some people forget making it not work. People also report negative side effects, but these are usually limited to certain pills for certain people. If you feel like the pill you’re on isn’t working for you, go back to your doctor and ask them about switching. There are also rare more serious side effects (for example, it can increase the risk of blood clots in individuals with a medical/ family history of clots). 
3. For my cycle it made it very predictable so I would know what day I’d get my period and it usually only lasted a couple of days.

I was on the pill for 2 1/2 years I got off it because the pill I was taking gave me issues. I'm gonna try a different pill this time. The two best times to take it is in the mornings or in the afternoons. If you take your first pill the Sunday after your period you have to use protection for 7 days if you take the first pill during the beginning of your period you're protected right away. If you have any concerns about the pills read the pamphlet. I loved the pill because it didn't screw up my hormones. The pill didn't screw up with my emotions.  I was on sprintect I lost a lot of weight when I was on it at first I didn't mind losing weight. But after awhile I felt too skinny and weak if you end up not liking the pill you get on you can always switch to a different one.

I’ve been on the pill for about 8 months and I don’t hate it. I still get a period but it’s very on cue. Sometimes it’s light and sometimes it’s a little heavy. But it only lasts like 3-4 days. Yes it gets annoying to have to take it at the exact time everyday but I take it at 5:05 after I get out of work and I have an alarm set for everyday which helps me on the weekends. I was on the implant and I liked the no period thing but hated the weight gain and mood swings. I would say the pill but that’s just my vote.
