Daughter baby tooth extraction

My daughter had a baby tooth extracted today due to it being abscessed. After it was removed we asked the dentist if she needed to have antibiotics to get rid of the infection and the dentist said now that the tooth is out the infection would go away/drain. Is that true? I've always heard antibiotics would be needed after.
