I need some objective opinions here. My stepson this morning mentioned to me that he sleeps in the same bed as his mom. I know this has to be by her choice because he sleeps alone here and has no problem with it. He has his own room and bed at him mom’s but says he only sleeps there when he has friends over for sleepovers.

Typically when it comes to differences in parenting I keep my mouth shut unless I see the difference as harmful. I’m concerned for two main reasons.

1. He’s mentioned before that for some reason he is always still tired when he wakes up at his mom’s even though he goes to bed earlier and wakes up at the same time. Now knowing they share a bed I think it could be affecting his sleep.

2. He’ll be hitting puberty soon. I hate to think about the shame and confusion he might feel if he wakes up in the middle of the night with an erection next to his mother.

I haven’t brought this up to my husband yet as I just found out this morning, so I don’t know if he knows they bedshare. We do our best to tackle parenting together but he mainly deals with the ex and their co parenting relationship is not amicable.

I know that asking him to talk to her about this will cause a big to-do. So I guess my question is, am I right to be concerned? How concerned would you be? Anything else about this arrangement you would add to my list?
