Piece of art
I’m an artist, I do graphic design, digital artwork, and acrylic paintings.
I was on YouTube and there was a documentary about a lady who role plays with realistic baby dolls because she is unable to have children.
It led me into a rabbit hole of looking into these dolls and from an artists point of view the work and realism that goes into these art pieces was so mind blowing. So I decided to give it a try.
I went out bought all the supplies I needed and dove in.
Since I’m used to working with acrylics i decided to stick with what I know. I watched a few tutorials online but it’s limited to a small selection for acrylic.
My first attempt the doll was horrifying. It looked like a basic store bought doll and not at all like a piece of art work that someone poured so much soul into.
Here’s that first attempt.
So I stripped down the paints and tried again.
I am SO proud of how it turned out.
It’s still not complete I have to do eyebrows, hair, lashes, and attach the body pieces together but I just really needed to share.
Obviously there’s still room for improvement but the depth and realism I was able to achieve, makes me so proud.
I love when a piece of my artwork turns out the way I’d like it.
Any artists out there will know there’s FAR more failed art projects then there are the successes and when you do succeed it feels so amazing.
I know these dolls won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. Tbh they weren’t mine either, I thought it was quite bazaar while I was watching the documentary but I looked more and more into it and from an artists stand point these dolls are beautifully created.
Who knows maybe I could start selling these beauties
