Flour sack towels as flats?

I’ve been thinking about trying out flour sack towels as flats... does anyone have any experience with this? If so where do you buy your towels at? Thanks!

I really liked the green mountain diapers company flats. They stay soft and they don’t wear down. They’re friendly to the budget.

Flats are already super cheap. They’ll hold up better and absorb more. Unless you need the absolute cheapest thing you can find, I’d recommend buying unbleached cotton flats from Osocozy on Amazon.

I've heard of it being used like that though I feel like most people get better results using them as inserts. 
A lot of people get them from Walmart and Target.

I bought FSTs at Target and honestly I kind of hate them as flats.  I use them as inserts in pockets, but don’t like to put them directly in baby.  They lost their softness quickly and didn’t stay very even/square.
