I can’t help but think about the awful tan lines they would leave

They look “heavy”, if you are smaller on the bottom/bird legs they may be a good to balance out a fit and flare dress or a romper with a print. If you’re not looking for extra weight I’d pick something else.

I love gladiator sandals! Just wear then with something that's not long to cover them and I would only wear them anytime after sunset to avoid a weird tan.
