“Amazing at having babies!”

Robyn

Welcome to the world Edie.

Our first born.

Official due date was 12th Feb but after weekly growth scans due to her being in the lower 5th percentile.

She was estimated at 5lb7 and came out at 5lb2.

They put the pessery in at 11am and by 12pm I had my first niggly contraction. I was in the delivery room by 4:50pm having dilated to 4cm using just a towel over me head to cocoon myself through my contractions and block out my husband and mum (a technique the midwives were very impressed by 😂).

I got on the gas and air about 5:30pm and by 6:35pm I was 8cm and my midwife told me to start pushing as my cervix was very soft and had done all it needed to do.

20mins of pushing later Baby Edie crowned and the midwife didn’t even have time to sort out what she needed to before the rest of her suddenly surfed into the world at 6:57pm!

Her cord was round her neck twice but luckily was sorted very quickly. Apparently I had the longest cord the midwives had ever seen...it just kept coming and coming like a magicians hanky trick! I was also the first person she had ever had to find the placenta delivery a really satisfying feeling! 😂

7 hours from the first little niggle to having my baby girl on my chest sucking on her thumb straight away. Cuddling my precious little bundle and hearing my mum and husband saying how proud they were and the midwife saying how amazingly I delivered just made everything so worth it.
