Help! How to let someone down?

Update:

So, I took everyone's advice, and was a lot nicer in the response text. He then replied that he isn't interested in talking about writing. And that because I'm married, he doesn't see the point in talking to me my anymore. He told me to loose his number. Damn, people suck. 😤

So, I recently reconnected with an old classmate from college. We were both in the same creative writing class, so we would frequently meet to discuss our recent works. We lost touch over the years.

He recently found me online (LinkedIn...I dont have any other social media) Over the past few days, we've reconnected. Only talking about writing and the pieces we've published. We haven't talked about our personal lives.

Today, he asked me out to the symphony. I'm married and I respect my marriage too much to go out with him. How do I let him down? Does this sound good? See below. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey, thank you so much for the invite, but I will have to decline.

This hasn't come up yet in our conversations, but I'm married. I respect my marriage too much to go with you on Saturday.

I'm sorry if I ever gave you the wrong impression. I hope we can continue our professional correspondence. I understand if you don't want to talk to me anymore, but my marriage comes first.
