Offered a full-time position at almost 26 weeks pregnant...

Sa

So, I work as a part-time critical care/flight paramedic and a part-time clinical researcher at the moment.

I was offered a full-time position today, for a full-time flight paramedic job (helicopter medic) and it would be work 12 hour shifts from 06:30 evening until 06:00 am. I’m so torn. Right now, I’ve been picking up day shifts and have been managing it okay. The days are easier though... they’re days!

They know I’m pregnant, so to make the deal sweeter, they told me they’d give me 8 weeks leave for my pregnancy (Ladies who are non US... this is our US usual LOL). I’ve wanted to this flight position for so long... and they don’t come up often. I don’t know what to do.

I feel like it won’t be an easy transition to nights... in my third trimester... but I don’t feel I can pass this up. 😫

Anyone deal with a situation like this? Anyone work night shift during third trimester?

Also, in case anyone is wondering... the cabin of the helicopter isn’t pressurized and we don’t fly to an altitude that needs oxygen, so technically it is still safe for me to work the job. Additionally, I have amazing partners who do the lifting for me... they just want me to push the drugs/do the drug calculation/vent settings. Good trade off 😂

UGH.
