Should I? Should I not?

Question

My doctor said IF I choose she will induce me as early as Feb. 9th (39 weeks). I'm due Feb. 16th with our first baby (a boy!) I have an appointment on Feb. 4th and the following appointment is Feb. 14th. I kind of want to be induced but I also kind of want it to happen on it's own. I live about an hour from the hospital so I worry we won't get there in time. I was thinking of asking to be induced on the 15th. Can anyone help me decide? My husband says it's up to me and he'll be great with whatever I choose.

I let my body do its thing first time and it happened at 40.5 weeks. I was induced for medical reasons second time at 38 weeks. Both were 6 hour labors. The main difference is spontaneous labor slowly build so I think it was easier to handle whereas the pitocin just throws you in to back to back hard contractions. I did both medicated.   It’s up to you but there’s a joy in your body doing it by itself! Good luck momma

I was induced with my daughter at 40 + 5 and was in labor for almost 20 hours. They say there is a higher chance of c section if you get induced with your first. My dr will induce me the 8th if I choose I’m due the 10th, id really like to experience going into labor on my own this time. I only made it to a 5 before I got the epidural and it stalled dilation at that point and made my blood pressure drop.

I wouldn’t induce because labor tends to be longer when you do. 
However, I am wondering how your doc will agree to induce. My doc doesn’t practice that unless medically necessary or if we go past our due date for too long.

I’m 39+2. I’m waiting to let my body go on its own. If I reach 41 and still nothing I’ll consider induction.

I’m getting induced at exactly 39 weeks. We have a 3 year old and need childcare lined up in advance because we don’t have anyone reliable if I go into labor at 3am on a Tuesday. My dr was induced with her 2nd and 3rd child and said if this was my1st she wouldn’t induce cuz it’s best to have your first naturally. Plus my little guy was measuring 7lbs at 36 weeks so I’m trying to avoid a giant 😂

Choosing to induce early (before 40 weeks) is a personal decision. But If your cervix isn’t favorable I definitely would not consider induction so early. Inductions go the smoothest when your cervix is already dilated and effaced and primed for labor. Otherwise you have to start with a prostoglandin like cytotec or cervadil and it can take foreeeeever (like days). The body is really, really good at keeping babies in until it feels ready to go into labor. Just something to take into consideration! Only you can know what’s right for you and your family though. ❤️

This is the 1st time I'm considering induction. I too was offered at 39 weeks. I told her I'd rather wait and schedule my induction at my 39 week appt so that I'll be induced right around my actual due date anyways. She thought that was a good idea. I don't mind the extra weeks wait knowing I could go anytime anyways but also know I won't be going like 2 weeks over either lol.

I just scheduled my induction for 39 weeks exactly... I’m 4cm dilated already though so they will just break my water and not use drugs for the induction... I also don’t see me making it to 39 weeks. But your husband is right! Totally up to you, and you can always change your mind later if you decide against it now. Good luck!

Same due date! I'm jealous because my doctor won't induce before due date. She's going to be out of town the week I'm due so that's the only reason I want to be induced earlier but oh well
