Did the IUD hurt?

I have a appointment to get a copper IUD and I am so nervous! I originally wasn't that worried, but at my 4 week PP appointment my doctor inserted a long Q tip to check if my uterus had healed enough to put in the IUD, apparently it had not and was less healed than he thought because it felt like I had been stabbed on the inside and I bled bright red for two days, it hurt so bad I felt like I couldn't walk straight. I'll be 8 weeks PP and trying again but I'm nervous now after that experience.

It is uncomfortable, but it is done in a a matter of minutes! You cramp like hell the first few days, this eases though! I’d say I cramped for like a week and a half? After that it’s fine. I have had mine almost two months now, and I love it! I get really bad cramps now when I get my period (I never used to get them at all) but it’s nothing a hot water bottle and ibuprofen can’t fix!

If your doctor has given you the appointment then they must think you're ready. Most people who got the IUD said that it was uncomfortable to get put in and resulted in some cramps for a few days after, but obviously everyone is different!  but I'm sure giving birth would have hurt more! You got this girl!
