Does anyone know why this happened?

I followed a baby beanie tutorial to a T it was very easy I use the same hook idk if the yarn i used maybe wasn't it cuz it asked for medium #4 and she said super saver brand so I have it but the finished head circumference was supposed to finished at 13.5 nb size and mine finished at 18!!! I'm like wtf I did everything like she said. Wtf I's this should I have used a thinner yarn?

Also it looks like you kept increasing each row. It'll keep getting wider if you keep adding stitches. Id count your stitches for each row

I crochet tight so I typically have to go up a hook size to get the same gage as the pattern. I'm wondering if you might need to use a smaller hook.

If you worked it bottom up, I’d say you didn’t decrease. Or vice versa. I also find that washing skeins first helps.

If you used the same hook size and yarn size then you may have accidentally added some extra stitches, maybe did an increase row twice and didn't realize it. It's not a big deal, I would keep going.

If you used a thicker yarn than the pattern it will end up bigger...
