Am I being selfish?

My daughter is a little over a month and breast fed... I would love a break and to spend time with my husband, but after she eats I don't have much milk to store and with that being said, I can't let her stay with my parents awhile. The thought of formula sounds great, but I know breast is best.. ugh..

So you have a few options. If you don’t want to use any formula try to pump after the first feed in the morning. You may not get much at first but after a while you will increase your supply just enough for that one pumping session. You can also use formula as a supplement. Formula won’t hurt and your baby will still be getting all the benefits of your breast milk. Do what’s best for you! Let go of the guilt- I have one exclusively breastfed baby and one formula bottle fed baby- I learned the second time around not to be so hard on myself .

Get a HaaKaa manual pump - you use it while baby is nursing by suctioning it onto the other breast. It basically collects “free milk” that you can then freeze. I freeze between 6-8 oz a day without ever actually pumping. You’ll have enough stored milk within 48 hours to spend a day with your husband, no formula required.

I felt the same way! Don’t feel bad. I’ve had a few days where grandparents watched the baby and we went out for dinner or something. I’m actually leaving for the first time for realz... I’m going to Florida today and will be gone for 72 hours. Baby is 9 weeks old. Her daddy will be watching her while I’m gone and I know he will take good care of her. You need to take care of you too!
