Did you buy a breast pump (EBF)

For EBF moms did you still buy a breast pump? I plans to breastfeed and I’m wondering if I should even bother getting one “just in case”? TIA

I’m so glad I did because my son didn’t latch well and still doesn’t 6 weeks in.. so I exclusively pump . Especially if insurance covers it, get one.

My son had issues latching the first week and I had to use a pump to make sure my supply came in and I bottle fed him with what I pumped. It’s always smart to have a back up because breastfeeding isn’t a one size fits all plan. 
I bought a manual pump off amazon for like $17 and my insurance covered an electric one.

It’s worth it to pump and offer a bottle around 6-8 weeks so if you ever changed your mind about just you nursing it won’t be difficult to introduce a bottle. It’s still considered ebf if you let dad give a bottle of breast milk. I was grateful Because my son would have a 6am wake up which is when hubby wakes up and he’d take the baby bond by changing feeding and chilling with him. Then before he left for work he’d put him in bed with me again. It allowed for me to get more than two hours of sleep at a time in the morning which helped with exhaustion levels from nursing all night long. Insurance normally covers a breast pump so it’s worth it. It’s nice to have the option of leaving the baby for a break for a couple hours without stressing about baby getting hungry

Absolutely! Definitely get one if you can. If your insurance doesn’t cover it or it’s too expensive, get a manual one. There will be a day when you want to go on a date night, or you have a doctors appt, or whatnot and you won’t be able to take your baby. Having an emergency stash is extremely useful if you don’t want to use formula.

I didn't. I figured I could just pick a simple manual one up if I needed to. But it's been almost 6 months and I still haven't felt the need for one.

Ya i did and it was a waste. Thought I would make a stash, or feed in public with a bottle. I didn't do either, not necessary. Just nursed in the car and at home from the breast. 18 months and I used the thing like 4 times in the first couple months.

I would definitely get one just in case, you never know if/when you may need it. And if it's covered by your insurance why not! My daughter had a lot of issues in the beginning which required us to supplement with pumped milk after feedings and bottle feeding on occasion for the first couple weeks before we were able to transition to EBF. You never know how things will go so if you can get it free through your insurance I absolutely would!
