Taking newborn out

Debating if we can take our 4 week old out at a restaurant tomorrow. We live in Minnesota and it’s flu season- just feeling cooped up inside. Was planning to keep him in his carrier with a blanket over him but now I’m thinking it’s not worth the risk. Thoughts?

I also live in MN and have taken my baby out to restaurants and stores because I needed to get out of the house. She just stays in her car seat with the cover and I make sure to wash my hands before I take her out when we get home.

My son who is now six got a respiratory virus at 4 weeks old that put him in the hospital for 4 days, was sent home on oxygen, then subsequently got pneumonia and asthma.I understand the cooped up/isolated feeling but remember this is only temporary.Personally at this time of year I just don’t think it’s worth it. Maybe your hunny can order in from that restaurant and set up a nice date night at home?

It’s awful right?? I’m still so traumatized from it and he’s 6 years old now and healthy

I’ve been taking my baby out since we brought her home. No one but me and dad holds her, and she’s always covered.

I have been taking my baby out but no one touches him and I have a car seat cover. I live in Colorado and we have a bad cold and flu season this year.

I also live in Minnesota. I take my baby out, but no one holds him. I am also very conscious about washing my hands every time I come home before I touch him. My 5 and 3 year old as well. A lot of flu viruses are contracted through touch and moisture so just having the baby in the same "air" as germs isn't a huge risk. However, as moms we always have to weigh the idea of " is it worth the risk"? and decide what's best for us.

I also live in MN. We have only taken our son out for Dr appts as of yet at 12 days old partially cause of all the snow and cold we just had. Though with our daughter 2.5yrs ago we took her out about 2.5 - 3 weeks old to the grocery store and to McDonalds and just left her cover on her carseat. We had no issues.
