Ted Bundy documentary pushing capital punishment?
So I haven’t been on this app in a few days so I’m sorry if the Ted Bundy topics are getting over done, but this has brought tension between my friends so I’m interested in what your thoughts are.
I had several friends over to watch the Ted Bundy Tapes on Netflix. Afterwards as everyone was getting ready to leave, a friend said that he was going to have to think and do more research and reevaluate is opinion on capital punishment as he hadn’t felt he as truly thought about it in depth, and that watching the series made him realize that. My other friend, who is very anti capital punishment, chimed in and said that the documentary was proof that the justice system back then, and still today, neglects the mentally ill. (Something I think many can agree with no matter what side of capital punishment they stand on.)
It was kinda tense, but I think that’s why you get when you bring up those kinds of topics. What really was interesting was she later posted on social media saying she felt the documentary series “pushed” the idea and support of capital punishment in an almost propaganda kind of way. I did some searching and was surprised to see she definitely isn’t alone in this thinking. So if you’ve seen it, do you think it tried to push support of the death penalty?
Update: not asking about your thoughts on capital punishment. Asking about if you think the series pushed the concept of it.
