My precipitous birth story
I've been practicing my hypnobabies since 32 wks and was very faithful up until around 36wks when I stopped doing the things I should've been doing to study. But from time to time, I still listened to the tracks (mostly deepening hypnosis) which worked so well, it was a little scary. And read through the classes as well. Had plenty of times where I thought it was my birthing time but found out it wasn't because the waves were tolerable and the hospital sent me home.
At 3pm on Jan 28th, started having strong but tolerable waves every 15min to 20min, didn't think anything of it because this had happened plenty of times before. I just knew the scheduled induction on Jan 31st was going to be the only way he would come out. Anyways, the waves were tolerable and came every 15 to 20min (starting at 3pm), then around 4pm they became more intense (coming every 5 to 7 min) and I could not talk through them but I could breathe very well through them using my relaxation cues and breathing techniques from hypnobabies. This went on until about 5pm, when they became even more intense (coming every 1 to 2 min), I could not talk, walk, lay down or anything without the waves being more intense. So I got into the warm bath which actually made it worse. I tried listening to my deepening track but the "sudden" intensity of the waves took over everything. I still stayed calm and breathed through each wave like I was taught on the tracks but I knew this was it.
I texted hubby to come home now from work, around 5:45pm. My 15yr old heard my moaning during the waves and decided to call my mother in law who told her to call the ambulance. I got out of the tub and got on my hands and knees on my bed to get through the next wave then my water broke all over the bed. My daughter had already called 911 and the operator had sent out the paramedics. I started to feel pushy after the next wave came, right after my water broke but I was in denial because there was no way this was happening this fast and in my home.
The operator told my daughter to tell me to lay down on the bed and to put towels underneath me, which she did (she is a champ!!). I laid down on my back and my body automatically started pushing during each wave. I held on to the blankets and stared at the ceiling. While breathing deeply like the tracks say, I was able to push his head out in 2 pushes. The paramedics ran into the bedroom right when his head emerged. 3 pushes later, he was out. Crying, healthy and perfect. My hubby walked into the room 5 min later and we both smiled and were so overwhelmed with happiness.
Thank you hypnobabies for all you did for us. I stayed calm and breathed and got through such a crazy situation because of your guidance.
