Did you pack marriage license in hospital bag?

My hospital is asking for our marriage license. I’ve watched a million what’s in my hospital bag videos and I don’t recall anyone ever saying that. I brought healthcare documents and my ID. None of which they asked for. But when vital records came they said my husband has to go get our marriage license in order for my daughter to get her birth certificate.

That’s so strange.... marriage isn’t a necessity for being listed on a birth certificate.

Mine needed it with my 1st one but it was just bc I had a different last name since I didn't change it yet but it was still strange to me

You don’t have to be married to get pregnant.... 
This seems strange. 
We were given a check list of things to bring, insurance card and id was on there... no mention of a marriage license.

I know they make of point of putting the mother’s legal last name on baby’s bracelets and such for safety reasons but asking for a marriage certificate seems out of the ordinary.  I’d think your ID would be enough.

The hospital I’m going to give birth asks for a marriage certificate for people who didn’t change their last names. I didn’t take my husband’s last name, so I already packed that. They also ask for 2 forms of ID.
