Taxidermy for pets

Watching the old episode of dance moms in which Abby Lee Miller goes to a taxidermist to get her dog preserved (she had it stuffed) and it interested me. The moms were all pretty divided on it, some thought it was weird but a few thought it was sweet/something they would do.

Would you ever preserve your pet by getting it taxidermied, or do you prefer another route?
