When to trigger with IUI.

Question

Hi all! My first IUI was not successful. In addition to the low odds, we didn’t BD as much as we were supposed to and I think the timing was off. My opk didn’t have a solid smiley face until the morning of the IUI and my doctor told me not to use the trigger shot because I was naturally surging the day before. I think I O’d the afternoon of the IUI, it was very painful. When are you actually supposed to go in for the IUI? I’m so confused on the timeline.

I took letrozole in the beginning of my cycle, did an ultrasound on a Friday to make sure my eggs were a good size. They were, told me to take my trigger shot the next evening, we scheduled the IUI for Monday morning. It ended up being right around the time of the month (mid-month) when I should’ve ovulated if I ovulated on my own.

Ideal is shortly after ovulation so the egg is there and ready.   The washed a perm don’t live as long so if they have to wait for egg to release the could die - or swim too far
