What are your thoughts on inductions?

This is for none medically necessary inductions. What are your thoughts?
I had to have one with my first due to high blood pressure and a calcifying placenta at 37 weeks. Asked my doctor just being curious about his look on them (new doctor), or if I was at a risk to need another one. He told me that I could, but if I came in at the end of 38 weeks, or 39 weeks just over being pregnant and wanted to go ahead, that he would go ahead and induce me.

I want to avoid induction. I can totally understand if someone is terribly uncomfortable that they may want to induce. I want baby girl to cook for as long as she needs to- I think your body knows when the perfect time to be born is.

I was induced for high bp with my first at 39 weeks. My second came naturally at 38 weeks. This guy has been steadily measuring huge, so doctor said we may need to induce. I’m really hoping to go into labor on my own, but if not, it’s no biggie to me.

Most accounts say that induction makes the labour pains stronger but if you’re having an epidural anyway that shouldn’t matter too much. The other thing to note is that being induced forces hormones into your body before baby and you have decided that it’s time for the birth. So many people get induced these days tho so really it’s a personal choice x

I was induced at 37 weeks with my first for medical reasons. I will say that because of that experience anyone who wants to go through a induction voluntarily is CRAZY! My baby ended up in nicu because she really wasn’t ready to come out yet. It was horrible.

My sister-in-law induces because she was uncomfortable and hot in July. She said it was the worst mistake she made. Her labor was much longer and her body wasn’t ready yet. She also tore really badly because of it. Her doctors warned her this could be a possibility but she still went with it. Getting induced can lead to more of a chance of tearing because your body doesn’t naturally become more elastic preparing for birth. Unless I’m needing it medically or I’m several weeks over due, I’d rather wait for my body to naturally get to that point.

I’m being induced at 39 weeks. His head is measuring 98th percentile and he also has 2 vessel cord (usually more related to growth restrictions - not in my case!) but because he can get easily stressed during labour too.

I’m due April 13th but dr scheduled induction for April 8th for me since my SO is oilfield and I’m terrified that I’d go into labor with him being in a different state! But it’s only a week before due date so I could technically go into labor before the 8th but that’s as early as my dr would schedule it since it’s not a medical reason.

I personally think its selfish babies come when they are ready induction puts alotof stress not only on your body but baby too if it's not medically necessary leave baby in

With my first, I scheduled my induction a week after my due date and was dreading it the entire time. I just felt like I wanted baby to come on his and I had heard labor was way worse being induced. Luckily with him my water broke on my due date. With my second I was induced in order to time labor with stopping my blood thinners. Now with #3 I would like to go in naturally again especially since when I did go in for #2 I was already having contractions and had no idea. She probably would have been born within the next couple days. But I’m also not completely against getting induced if it comes to that, I’ll just have it be my last resort.

My husband and I have been debating on this very topic. My first was overdue and I really don’t want that experience again. It’s definitely a personal decision so I’d just do the research to know what to expect and then go from there. Good luck mama
