How do you decide on whether to keep your baby or not?

How do you decide something like that? It isn’t even a sure thing that I’m pregnant, I’m unusually late on my period and will test soon. I don’t know what the hell I’ll do if I actually am pregnant. I always thought I’d get an abortion but now idk what I want to do. I know I can’t afford a child so maybe abortion is the best option???

If you’re late, then take a test sooner rather than later. Knowledge is power as they say. If it’s negative, then you can breathe a sign of relief. If it’s positive, the sooner you know that, the sooner can start to think through the options for real. Anything before that positive is just thought games. 
Another comment mentioned taking a realistic look at your life and what you’re capable of at this time. That is good advice. 
I’d pair that with the question of are you ready to be a parent forever at this time. When I was deciding this same thing 5 years ago, I thought of it like this. Either way, I was about to do the hardest thing I had ever done in my life. Either I would be ending a pregnancy or I would become a parent forever. At the time, I was not ready for that forever part. Once you have a child, you are never not that person’s parent. That’s a big incredible thing, and it’s okay to not be ready for it. Some people are; some are not. Either is okay. You are the best judge of yourself and your situation. You have all the info you need to make this decision if you get that positive. But please, just take the test. The more time you have to decide, the better.

I can answer what led me to my decision and I made it quickly. Medically I knew I couldn’t dilly dally. 
I had only been with my boyfriend for a couple months and it was already rocky. We were on a trip in AZ and I just felt different. I was not on birth control at the time, I had no insurance and my previous doctor told me it would be very unlikely that I would ever get pregnant. When we got back from our trip, we talked about my period being late. 
I took the pregnancy test and it was positive. We had previously discussed what we would do if I ever did get pregnant, we both agreed with abortion. I saw that test and a million questions went through my head.
These things lead me to choose abortion: I had no job, so no financial means to support myself and a child. My boyfriend did not want a child yet. I did not want a child yet. I had no medical insurance. Our relationship was incredibly unstable. I wasn’t okay with adoption mentally, at the time I was still very bitter about adoption. I would not be mentally okay with that. I didn’t live on my own and I didn’t want my parents to support a grandchild. 
I looked at things very objectively and wrote it all out. A week later I had the appointment for a medical abortion. Years later, I still don’t regret my choice. It was the right decision at the time. 
That’s all you can do. Have the facts and make the best decision based on what is the best for you.

I could afford to have a child, neither could my boyfriend. We decided on an abortion because if we had a baby it would put a serious burden on our lives, my boyfriends 3 year olds life, and our families. We did it to have a good future for future babies if they come. I still get upset but I know that I did the right thing for everyone.

No one can answer that for you. I had my first at 16 and I can see how much different my life would have been had i decided not to keep him.  I personally think keeping him was my best choice, i married his father and we are doing amazing 9 years later. But I know other people who weren’t mentally capable of having a baby yet and made the decision for themselves to abort or put up for adoption. They are also doing well today. 
Have you thought about adoption maybe? Any of the choices you make will be permanent. There will be some regret no matter what you decide, you just have to figure out what’s best for you. But if this is a dilemma you have, maybe you should consider birth control to avoid having to make such a difficult and life altering decision before you’re ready. Best of luck ❤️

This is such a personal decision.  Honestly I would see if you could find women on both sides of the fence and see if they would share their experiences.  Remeber two things ..1. Whatever choice you make is a permanent one.  You cant change your mind once it's done.  Make sure it's a decision you can live with for the duration of your life.  2. There are also other options aside from abortion ... adoption being one. It's a huge gift to give to be able to give another woman.  The most special gift of all. .. good luck.
