Spoiled kids

Ashley

Hi guys! Would love some honest advice here!

We have an 8 (almost 9 year old son) a 6 year old daughter, and a 6 month old baby boy. We have struggled off and on financially ever since we had our oldest. As things have progressively gotten better for us my husband and I never seem to forget those awful days where we started out -I think it’s so much easier to be be grateful and excited to see your progress when you’re an adult. For our kids on the other hand... they seem to be acting a little more spoiled as things get better 😑🙄

We just purchased a camper trailer (which we’ve been talking about for years!) soooo exciting! We decided to surprise the kids when we picked it up from the lot, so I was recording their reaction when we pulled up (they had no clue where we were)

I expected tears, screams, wet pants 😂 something extreme, but my son acted like such a brat, he ruined the video... said it was lame, wanted to leave, pouted the whole time, SUPER disappointing. We had a very long talk with him about his behavior and he did get punished for it, but how do you avoid this spoiled behavior and still maintain a nice lifestyle??

My first response is to start taking things away and start giving him chores and more responsibilities, is this a good plan? Or will this backfire? Overall he is a straight A well behaved kid. He just acts spoiled sometimes! Same with his sister. Ugh!!
