Brown Discharge...negative hpt🤔🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

Hello all. I have recently had some Brown discharge but only when I wipe. I have never had this happen before. It started off like AF was about to come(light pink), but it started to turn a brownish color. I took a hpt and went to the dr. both of the test were negative. Did I test too soon? What could this have been?
