Does anyone else’s partner freak out when you start yelling at them?

Every time I get annoyed or start to yell about something, it always freaks my boyfriend out. He’ll be like okay! Okay! I wasn’t paying attention! I’m sorry! Okay!” And then it’ll phase over and all is back to normal.
I think it’s funny. But I hope I’m not stressing him out.

He doesn’t deserve to be yelled at and I don’t think it’s funny. (Truly not being a bitch) but I just think he’s a human and deserves to be treated like one. And if he’s reacting as if he can’t do what you want him to do fast enough, it’s more than likely making him shut down being treated that way. Everyone has arguments with their partner. Sometimes it gets heated. And it’s normal. But- once in a while. This just comes off like you’re bossing him around and that you know yelling at him makes him jump and you get enjoyment from that by the way you worded this. Try a different approach for sure.

Hes probably been in an abusive relationship before weather it be an ex or a parent or any kind of relationship period. I would take it as a sign to cool off and back off a little. Try not to yell Maybe come off a different way.

Maybe just try to talk instead of yell. I’m guilty of that too but I have been working on it diligently. It sounds like he’s afraid of something. Try to talk to him about that.

Yeah that sounds like he is getting stressed. It’s not funny, he could of been abused in a relationship or from family and yelling just triggers it. I know I can’t be around someone yelling and quickly try to shut it down. You need to actually talk about things, yelling happens sometimes I get it but most of the time it should be adult conversation.
