Today my nephew was born, and though that should be a very happy event it has been plagued with sadness and fear. A little back story, my sister is 28 years old. This is the second baby she has had in a year so her pregnancy was considered high risk. She went into labor yesterday amd labored most of the day. The hospital of course told her until your contractions are regular don't come in. (Wrong for a high risk pregnancy) at some point in time while in labor her placenta abrupted unknowingly. This morning after 20 minutes of labor my sweet little nephew was born not breathing. He had a bowel movement in the womb, and inhaled it. His lungs were burnt and his blood toxicity levels were high. This was the least of their worries though. After inspecting her placenta the doctors discovered my nephew had likely been in distress for hours without adequate oxygen. He has not had much movement since being born, no crying, nothing. He is now breathing on this own, and the doctors want to cool his body temp for 72 hours to give his lungs, and brain time to heal, but as of now we are unsure if there is any brain damage or how extensive it may be...i'm here to ask for as many prayers as I can get for this handsome little man to make a full and fast recovery with no lasting damage.
