Are breast implant illnesses a big enough concern to get them removed?

There is a big trend right now regarding breast implant illnesses. Many celebrities and influencers are coming forward and reporting they are removing their breast implants due to potential illnesses or symptoms of the illnesses from their implants. 
Some research says it’s unlikely and not an issue.
Others say that it’s an epidemic and women are putting their lives at risk by keeping them in. 
Some are even asking for financial support to have them removed.

I believe it’s a real thing, but what did everyone expect when they put a foreign body inside of them. You can’t just sit back and think it wouldn’t affect you one bit.

According to the FDA, breast implants have been linked to cancer. 
Personally it’s a real enough concern that I would never get them. 
This does make me sad for women who want them after things like breast cancer or during transition, though. I hope that as we progress we can find a way to make these implants safer, if for nothing more than to keep those women safe and feeling confident in their own bodies.

It doesnt surprise me, even organ transplants can reject or cause issues, I couldn'timagine the damage a foreign object would do. I mean I've ALWAYS wanted a boob job but with all this research coming out I might just deal with the itty bitty titty committee

I was totally flat and got b-sized saline implants 10 years ago so I would feel I look normal. I was very insecure about my body before that and I haven’t been since. I don’t regret it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's still a very rare occurrence, but most common with the textured implant.  I've had my implants for 10+ years without any issues whatsoever.  It's obviously important to be vigilant if you notice any lumps or signs of any kind, but generally speaking I think they are still safe.

I saw this yesterday. Yes, they’re a huge concern. I have them and want them out so badly. Unfortunately I can’t remove them while pregnant.

Yes it’s concerning and more research needs to be done.
Let’s also not ignore the statistic that women with breast implants have a higher risk of suicide. 
& the fact the over 70% of women are unhappy with their breasts. A decent portion of women don’t think their breasts look normal. 
Society has created an ideal breast that we are plastered with seeing convincing us that we don’t look normal when that ideal for most people isn’t normal or even achievable unless through surgery. We speak about representation when it comes to skin color, to body types, ect. Let’s represent different breast sizes, shapes, nipples, ect. It seems trivial but for years women’s bodies image especially in regards to their breasts have been crushed by societal standards that are unrealistic. It’s disgusting. We’ve created a vicious loop of also distorting men’s perceptions of women’s bodies.
As human beings we register patterns in our brains. When we constantly see a singular representation of something our brain becomes familiar with that. As a society we have become familiar with the ideal breast and we are conditioned to believe that is attractive above all else and that we must be disgusting and not normal if we fall short of that. If we are shown more variations of breasts that are NORMAL we can end this nonsense.
