Miscarriage or too early?

Amanda

I have a 10.5 month old I am breastfeeding and I have not had a postpartum period yet. I was on the mini pill until the beginning of January. On Tuesday 2/5 I took 2 different brands of pregnancy tests in the afternoon, both got very positive very fast. I was having PMS like cramps and also had some spotting on Tuesday and Wednesday. It ranged from pink to dark brown and was only on toilet paper when I wiped. I seen my midwife on Thursday afternoon. She checked my cervix and said she did not see any new blood and everything looked fine to her. She told me not to worry. I also had light spotting on and off for weeks in my first pregnancy. Since I am rh negative and don't know how pregnant I am, she wanted me to get a rhogam shot and said the quickest way to get it would be to go to the ER where they would also do blood work. In the meantime she scheduled me for an ultrasound for the following Thursday. Once at the ER they did an ultrasound and said there was nothing there so I had already had a miscarriage. I told him I had very light bleeding, like I didn't even need a pad. He said that can happen if you are really early. He said my HCG levels were around 600. He sent me home with paperwork about a miscarriage but it says to expect period like bleeding or a little worse. I've had no more spotting. Thoughts? Is it possible to have a miscarriage with such little blood?
