Twins arrived at 35 weeks after four days of labor

Twin pregnancy is definitely no joke 😯. I remember how sick I felt when I was pregnant with my daughter but I was constantly throwing up in this pregnancy. It was twice the fun 😂 These two turkeys gave me a run for my money from day one.

From about 24 weeks on I had terrible Braxton Hicks. By 30 weeks I was measuring full term so my OB was like your body just thinks it’s full term now and in labor. Greaaaat. Yay. More Braxton Hicks non stop. At 34 weeks 4 days I started having consistent contractions. I ended up in L and D for four days in labor. It would start and stop and start and stop. I was 4 cm and admitted. At my last ultrasound both babies were transverse. So I had an ultrasound and baby boy had turned! Yay I’d be able to try vaginal birth ( side note my first labor the baby basically walked herself out. It was 22 hours but I walked and walked. No drugs. Felt awesome after) this labor I’m like drugs gimme drugs all the drugs. My contractions were horrendous. Every time I would contract baby b would flip out and it felt like she was breaking my ribs. After two days they had to take my epidural out as the risk of infection is too high. So I was back to being in agony. I non stop vomited for four days and couldn’t even keep down liquids. My legs swelled so much due to all the fluids they kept pumping me with that I couldn’t walk. On weds after four days of brutal labor it seemed like I was going to be sent home as things had stopped. Then two hours later I began pouring blood. I called for help and within minutes the OB was there as the nurses were extremely worried. Baby A had flipped ,the little nugget, and after a very painful internal it was apparent I’d be having a c section. Our son William was born howling onJanuary 16th at 10pm. Our daughter Audrey was not breathing when she came out. After what felt like a life time she started to cry. She needed quite a bit of assistance at the beginning.

The babies spent 8 days in the NICU with the most amazing team of nurses and doctors. It’s super hard not being able to bond with your baby right away and to not get to change first diapers etc but they were in such fantastic hands. Recovering from a c section is no joke at all. I dragged myself over a few hours after to see both kiddos as we only briefly got to see our son when he was born as they took our daughter right away. I felt like my stomach had been carved in to two. The incision from a c section is so so small it’s crazy! I’m like this tiny old thing is causing so much pain but I wanted to meet my kids.

First day home. Love snuggling into each other. I felt great after a few days back home. Then my incision started to hurt. Turns out I had a hematoma behind it. One night I was feeding my daughter and it sort if exploded out. The fun things you learn about c sections after you’ve had one. It seems quite common to develop them. I went on antibiotics which helped and I’m almost four weeks post c section and feeling better.

We are really happy both babies are doing well after having a rough start. They’ve currently got their days and nights confused so that’s been rough. Our two year old loves them and constantly sits besides them saying baby baby babies.

We are really happy our family is complete because after this last labor and delivery I definitely couldn’t do it again.
