Any birthing center experiences?

Hi mommas! I’m just curious about everyone’s experiences at a birthing center as opposed to giving birth in a traditional hospital setting. I’ve always thought I’d prefer a calmer, more peaceful setting where I can trust my body, but I’m aware that sometimes the equipment and training you find in a hospital isn’t negotiable in certain situations. 
Any ladies care to put their two cents in? I’d love to hear everyone’s opinions and experiences! 😊

Ive not given birth yet but I’m planning on going to a free standing birthing center in a few month when it’s time to deliver. I’m under the care of all midwives and I absolutely love it. They are so wonderful and actually care about me and how I am doing. I actually can’t wait to deliver there! I’m so excited😊

I haven’t given birth yet, but I’ve had all my prenatal visits with midwives in a birth center and I absolutely love it. I have a needle phobia and having my blood drawn on a cozy bed with the lights dim by my caretaker who knows me is 100000xs better than at a lab by a random tech who I have to explain my phobia to every time. 
In my state, licensed midwives are licensed by the California Medical Board (the same medical board as your OB/GYN) and have learned a specific skill set through extensive hands-on training in low-risk pregnancy and childbirth in an out of a hospital setting. They’re also experts in assessing if a pregnancy has gone from low-risk to high-risk, and can transfer your care to an OB before there’s an emergency. Despite what it seems like, MOST pregnancies are and remain low-risk, and you can comfortably give birth in a birth center without worry. 
I’m actually excited to give birth. My team makes it feel like an empowering adventure rather than a medical condition I need cured.
