Could baby be sick?

My son is 9 days old and sounds stuffy. His breathing isn’t wheezy it just sounds like he has snot stuck that won’t come out. I’ve tried with the basic nose sucker they give you at the hospital and I’ve been doing saline drops but nothing is helping. I’ve also been running the humidifier all day. His temp is 99.4. I was told normal new born temp is between 98-99. He’s not extremely fussy but he won’t let me put him down for more than 20 minutes at a time. Should I be worried or is this okay? Any thing more I could try?

Keep an eye on the temperature. Are you taking it with a rectal thermometer? At that age that’s going to be the most accurate reading. My youngest had a fever of 100.5 when she was 28 days old and because fever can be sever in babies younger that 2 months old my doc wanted to see her immediately and she wound up being hospitalized for 3 days all over a common cold virus. 
I’m not trying to scare you, just informing you because I had no idea a low grade fever in a young baby was considered so serious to the medical community. Call your doc and get their advice.

My baby was also very stuffy the first few weeks. I used saline drops and the Frida nose thing. I was also always checking his temp and probably called the nurse w questions. You could call the doc to ask questions when in doubt.

My baby had a lot of mucus for like the first month, I was so scared to use the saline spray but when I finally got to using it right, I would get huge booger’s out of her. The stuff in her chest/throat had to eventually break down on its own and wait for baby to learn how to get it out. If temp doesn’t go up, I wouldn’t worry.
