Race Identifiers

🌹B

The "Is this racist" post reminded me of something that happened to me at work the other day.

Also. If this gets moved to the race room, fine, but Im not choosing to go there with this because tbh I hate venturing out of CC.

A sales rep (older white lady) for our company was poking around the desk next to mine asking questions. To which i said, " Thats Angelics desk, you'll have to ask her. "

Shes looks at me, a white passing woman( and i point that out because I honestly don't think she would have said this had she known Im Mexican) gets real close and quiet and asks " Is... is that the black girl"

And im like.... ".... i mean.. yeah"

And she rolls her eyes, huffs, and says She has to be careful how shes says that. And then Beelines away from me and im like 👀🤯 what just happened.

So lets ask it like this. Is it okay or appropriate to use race/ethnicity identifiers?

Would you only feel comfortable using them with someone of your own race?
