Am I over reacting?

My bf and I have been together since we were 16. We’ve had our rough patches and got through them. Now we’re about to 24 and I want to be with him for the rest of my life. We wanted to get married by the age of 28 but what I want to know is it wrong of me for wanting to get engaged but still wanting to marry by 28? Is it wrong of me to feel a little impatient about him not popping the question yet?

I agree with you. That’s a long time to be with someone; it’s only natural you want to take the next step. I started dating my now husband at 15 and when we got engaged when I was 22, he 24, his grandmother said I was a very patient girl for waiting so long lol. Mind you, we were engaged for two more years because we wanted to go to Italy for our honeymoon and we wanted to buy a house, but I was just happy to have my ring at that point and be engaged rather than just dating.
We were married at 24 and it worked out perfectly. But we were both financially stable at that point and we had talked it over for a very long time.
So I’d say have a serious conversation with it about him. Tell him that you want to take the next step even if you have a long engagement. If my husband hadn’t proposed and we kept talking about it I probably would have ended things.
