Could a dr miss a heartbeat?

Hello, I’m currently 9 weeks pregnant. I went in for a ultrasound last week and the dr told me she could not find the babies heartbeat and I was going to miscarry( baby measured 8 weeks). I heard and saw a strong heart beat at 7 weeks and I’m just wondering if it’s possible they are wrong. I’m going to call today to get another ultrasound before I go through with a d&c. I don’t want to give myself false hope but I had such a good feeling about this one! And I have no other miscarriage symptoms. Anyone who has been through something similar I would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you.

This is called a missed miscarriage, your body still thinks you are pregnant even though the baby stopped growing. I had all the pregnancy symptoms until the day I miscarried. It’s horrible knowing my  baby was still inside me and there is nothing I could do to stop it happening.

Thanks for the comments. This will be my 4th miscarriage and second missed miscarriage. I was just hoping for some kind of miracle.

Happend to me twice. I had two missed miscarriages and with my first i did went to go get checked twice no changes happend. This second one i knew it happend again because there was no heartbeat at all and baby measured 9 weeks when i was supposed to be measuring 10weeks and 2 days. Baby didnt move at all so we went for a d&c a week later. Sorry for your loss. 😢 just know you are not alone and many of us are going through this everyday 💔

I’m going through nearly the exact same thing right now. Last week I was 8w4d and the baby measured 8w1d with no heartbeat.  The doctor scheduled me for a D&C on Friday unless something happens on its own before then. It’s been a week now with nothing. I asked for a second ultrasound just to confirm for my own peace of mind. I know when I go in there won’t be anything different but I just felt like I couldn’t go through with the procedure without just checking one time. I’m sorry this is happening. It really sucks.

I had a scan at 7w3d , measures 6w1d but had a heartbeat , was sure of my dates, had a scan a week later , no heartbeat and still measured 6w1d, had to wait another week to be sure before I got D&C, bad news for me! 💔💔 
I don’t think they’d miss a heartbeat unfortunately at that stage 💔💕😢

I experienced this back in October , went in for my 10 week check up at the specialist and my baby had stopped growing at 8 weeks , had a D&C a week later .. I know exactly how you feel and it’s an awful feeling , everything does get better , I know that may not help right now but it will .. everything happens for a reason and our time will come again for a healthy beautiful baby 🙏🏽 sending prayers your way

My situation was beyond me. I went to the ER to check on the baby thinking i was 11 weeks pregnant almost 12. But they did two ultrasounds to confirm the baby didnt have a heart beat. I still had pregnancy symptoms but i could tell something was wrong. I went to get a second opinion before i did anything..the OB confirmed no heartbeat and that the baby was stopped growing at 10 weeks. After 2 days of cytotec and labor pains, my body didnt pass the baby...so i had a d&c done and found out that i was actually 15 weeks pregnant. Im so sorry for your loss.

Hey, I was the same. Heard a strong heartbeat a 7 week ultrasound but when I went in for 12 week baby stopped growing at 10 wks and no heartbeat(nov 2018). I couldn’t make a decision so the midwife said to go back in a week if I didn’t naturally miscarry. In my heart I prayed they were wrong and when I went for scan it will show it’s still there and and heartbeating. However 5 days later I started bleeding really heavy, had to go in to A&E and have a manual dandc. Was the worst experience ever.
It’s heart breaking I know but 
If they don’t detect heartbeat am sure it’s not mistake. Go for the ultrasound for definite. I am so sorry for your lose. Pray you find peace within yourself. I still feel the lose, I would’ve been 6 months now but wasn’t meant to be. Xx
