If you liked the name Laney but hated the name Delaney...would you still name your kid Laney?

I’m worried people will think it’s a nickname for Delaney. And when you’re talking and saying things like “I’m talking to laney.” I think It kind of sounds like “Delaney”

I like Laney but definitely not a fan of Delaney at all. I wouldn't associate it with Delaney though if someone told me their name was Laney.

I mean my name is Ellie and people have asked me if it’s short for Elenor. I hate the name Elenor but it’s not like it bothers me because that’s not my name; i just tell them it’s not. If you like it, go for it!

Girl in my class is named Layna and they call her Lanie.  I think that’s cute! (Don’t like ‘Alayna’ so I’d much prefer Layna.

I’m a Laine and half the people I know pronounce my name Lainey instead of Lane. I have never once in my life been asked if it were short for Delaney.
I have been asked if my name is short for Elaine or Alaine though. 
You could also try a different spelling. I love the spelling of Layne.
