What do I do??

First baby, 5 weeks 1 day along. Need to see an OB but haven't picked one yet. Did people tour different hospitals before picking one? How did you pick your OB if you didn't already have one?

Check wich hospitals are in network with your insurance. Tour hospitals, not all hospitals have NICUs. You insurance should be able to tell you what providers are connected with what hospitals. Read reviews / ask around. Call and make sure the drs are accepting new patients. Make an appointment.

I Picked the hospital and told them to pick one for me but make sure it’s a female. I haven’t met her yet and I don’t know her name but I really don’t mind. I’m 5 weeks tomorrow and they said they won’t see me until 12 weeks.

I just went through this process today luckily my insurance has an app that showed me who I could go to. They don’t wanna see me till 8 weeks.

Check with in network providers. Look at reviews. However what I have found that is the most telling is when you call to make the appointment, how the receptionist speaks to you. You are going to deal with them a hell of a lot more than your actual doctor if they are rude it can make the whole experience a nightmare. Look online to make sure you don't have risk factors, not all doctors ask but some do. I had no clue I did and had to go for blood work before the normal 8-12 week check.

You might also ask friends, if they’ve given birth recently. Most of my friends go to the same obgyn because the first of us to give birth had such a great experience!

Reviews... and then actually going to the doctors  and by my visits I could tell if it was the type of environment I wanted. I've just changed doctors within the same facility.  The one doctor  and I did not mesh well together.
