Cipro during pregnancy?

So, I have a bad kidney infection, I was prescribed ciprofloxacin. Has anyone taken cipro during the 2nd trimester (I'm 25wks) and everything been ok with baby?

UpToDate has it as category C which basically means 🤷🏻‍♀️, bc nobody tests anything on pregnant women. I’m guessing they speciated your urine sample and it was resistant to smaller guns if they are choosing cipro or your infection was severe/concerning enough they want to cover you broadly and will narrow when cultures come back. It is surprisingly bc in last few months there has been a push to use anything but fluroquinolones unless you absolutely have to just in general population, not just for pregnant women.

If your doctor knows you're pregnant, they aren't going to prescribe stuff you can't take.

Take the medication.  Whatever you’ve read on the internet is better than letting that kidney infection get worse and make you end up in the hospital or worse. Your OB wouldn’t have given it to you if the “potential” risks outweigh the pros.

I was given Cipro by Doctor on Demand while my OB was closed. They knew I was pregnant.  My OB said that it's not completely outlawed while pregnant but went ahead and switched my prescription to be safe. I'd mention your concerns.
