Money hacks for buying baby stuff?

Hey everyone :) so as lots of babies are- mine wasn’t planned! I’m 25 weeks pregnant today and I’m just looking for any money saving tips when it comes to buying everything! This is my first baby, so i don’t have ANYTHING! I’m not having a baby shower either, so this will be tough! Any tips and money saving hacks would be amazing!

Consignment shops will be your BEST FRIEND. Yard sales too! Even Facebook market page. But I wouldn’t go too crazy with gadgets or anything just yet. We had a shower and we got so much stuff that my baby hated. She hated the swing, hated her rock n play. She hated pretty much anything every baby would love and I felt awful that people practically wasted their money on items we never used more than a few times. I’d start with the basics and then look at consignment shops. Once your lo is here you’ll get a good feel for their personality type and what they may or may not like! Best of luck, you’ve got this! It’s only as expensive as you make it!

Every little bit helps! If you register at target, buy buy baby, & amazon (u do have to spend $10 to get the box but it’s well worth it) you get really cute stuff. I got bottles, onesies, tons of coupons, pacifiers, etc! I also would look out for tons of sales Carter’s has! And tjmaxx/Marshall’s has such cute clothes and baby gear (I found a dock a tot for $79) if you look routinely. Target clearance sections are also really great (got an amazing glider for $110 and a beautiful crib for 30% off)!

One tip-even if you don’t have a shower, create a registry anyways. Normally when you are about 2 months away from delivery you get a 15 percent off discount for everything left on the registry (I know this is true for buy buy baby, target and amazon). We found a lot of stuff that was brand new through the market place on Facebook (like the normally $299 owlet smart sock for $150 because a woman got one and then decided they would co-sleep and didn’t need it). I’ve also seen a lot of in the box cribs or cribs never used on the marketplace because again parents decided on different sleeping arrangements. Good luck mama!!

Do you live in an area where there are kid resale expos — typically at convention centers if there are any nearby? I just went to one this weekend and got so much stuff! Some of it was totally brand new/still in the box. Had I paid retail, would have been over a $1000, but only spent $250 on 53 items!

Coupon ladies! You can buy super cheep diapers, wipes, and soap from them. Consignment shops often of sales like half off once a week, so check out those places. Also, ask around. People randomly give you stuff that that don’t need anymore.
