When to introduce water

Question

I was wondering when to introduce water? I’m starting solids in a week and is that when we give them some water? Or when?

The province I live in gives out a book  developed by the Department of 
Health and Wellness as a kind of guide with tips and advice for newborns up to I think 2 years old. Anyway this is what the book said about teaching your 6 month old to drink from a cup:

I'm planning to just use a regular cup and not a sippy cup especially since he'll only be drinking water when he's in his high chair for now.

At six months you can put a little bit (less than 4 oz) in a sippy cup only at meal time just to teach them how to use a sippy. Other than that they don’t need water if you don’t want to introduce it

My doc says i can start giving water to my baby 30-60ml. I use it only to train her on sippy cups

Yea I’ve been using a regular cup, because my son started using a regular cup on his own (Mimicking what I do) I’ve been giving him sips of water since he was 5 months, but now once I get his high chair I’ll be giving him more.

They can have 4oz to 6oz of water a day starting at 6 months. My son doesn’t like it, but we have been trying to get him used to it with sippy cups.

We just started with the sippy during solids. I'll help her take a drink or two to wash down the purées but then it's whatever she gets out of it on her own she can have. Usually just a couple more drinks

I went to listen to a registered dietician talk about starting babies on solids and she advised to give water with meals. And to use a regular cup. No need for sippy cup.
