How do I forgive & forget my S.O for cheating?

How do I forgive him for cheating & burning me without ever bringing it up again?

I tried. We talked it all through, I cried in his arms, we were open and honest with each other. I showered him with love and we tried to make new memories. It lasted another 6 weeks. He did it again. Lesson learned, I will never EVER do that again. That’s not love. I’m now with someone who loves me and respects me.

It really depends on your relationship dynamics. Lots of women will say it won’t work and that you should leave. I’ve been in your shoes. When I was dating my now husband he cheated while we were apart and he was at training in a different state. We broke up for a a month or so and then when we got back together I said I wasn’t going to commit unless he committed 100%. A few months later we were engaged and have now been married for going on 6 years. Only time heals and I can honestly say I do not have any fears of him cheating ever again. Not even the slightest. So it is possible to heal from it. We have an amazing relationship and are solid as a rock. I once heard a podcast where someone brought up that sometimes when someone cheats they end up loving you more, not less. Obviously most will probably disagree with this really all depends on your personal relationship with you SO. Good luck.

Expecting to never bring it up again is completely unrealistic and will only brew feelings of resentment.
I think if you genuinely want to move past it, you do need to speak about your feelings. Couples counselling would be a good place to start.

I wouldnt, personally. I have ZERO tolerance for cheating (and abuse). My husband does as well. You cheat— enjoy your crappy life, fool! We’re done.

Well, it’s been about 3 years & as much as I try & fight the urge. It somehow always gets brought up in arguments that are completely unrelated to him cheating. We recently just got over one of the biggest arguments we’ve had over it...I finally realized that I chose to stay, I love him, we have a child together. If I’m gonna make this work I gotta over come it. In all honesty our case isn’t the worst...we was young, still in high school with no responsibilities, no kids, nothing serious at the time. Doesn’t mean our relationship didn’t take a blow for it because it did, but I think knowing he done it one time while we was still so young does help. He hasn’t done anything since. I really feel like the timing, meaning & situation in general of the cheating is what I would seriously take into consideration. If he was to have cheated now that we have a family & a life together. No, I would not be able to forgive that. I tell him straight out. I can forgive you, but I will never forget it.

I don’t know any special tricks to forgive and forget... and it’s not something that can be forced to happen either. Everyone is different some people forgive and forget easily and some don’t, I’m one of those people who just doesn’t have the ability to forgive and forget when it come to cheating. But if you really want to try and work out your relationship I suggest couples counseling maybe that will help. I don’t know your story but I really hope the person who cheated on you deserve the second chance you are trying to give them. Good luck
